 Some advises:

  • To expedite your procedures, it is convenient to present the corresponding documentation two months in advance of the planned date.

  • If you are interested in leaving sabbatical, doing a research stay or a postdoctoral stay, you must communicate your intention to the Academic Secretary during the first two months of the year, so that they will be considered when preparing the Annual Academic Improvement Program. Likewise, you must be attentive to the different UNAM calls that support these activities.

Procedures
Postdoctoral DGAPA scholarship

First and second year renewal and final report 

The scholarship will be granted for one year without exception and it could be extended only once.

Documentation required: 

  • Letter of intention of the applicant addressing the Dean explaining their academic motivation. 
  • Request letter from the responsible researcher addressed to the dean, with the approval of the department head including the academic reasoning that supports the invitation. 
  • Work plan with a schedule that includes goals and final products, endorsed by the advisor. 
  • Updated resumè including citations and supporting documents.
  • Copy of the doctoral degree or examination certificate. 
  • Doctoral thesis abstract.  
  • Letter of commitment from the candidate to engage full time (DGAPA format)
  • Advisor Curriculum Synthesis. 
  • Birth certificate, professional ID, passport, or INE (photo ID). 
  • Printed published papers. 
  • DGAPA Request form. 
  • Letter from the advisor in which they agree not to be absent and indicates the person in charge to follow up in case of absence. 
  • Evaluation of the last three annual reports issued by CTIC.
DGAPA postdoctoral scholarship final report

At the end of the two years of a postdoctoral fellowship, in compliance with the provisions of DGAPA, a report must be submitted. 

Documentation required:

  • Letter from the interested party addressed to the dean, submitting an annual activity report and another final report comprising the two years of postdoctoral fellowship.
  • Comments and approbation by the advisor. 
  • Papers published during the period.
  • In the event that the scholarship recipient renounces the scholarship, they must send a letter of resignation.   

Postdoctoral DGAPA scholarship

Postdoctoral CONACyT scholarship

Within the framework of the National Development Plan, the federal government will promote scientific and technological research through the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACyT). It will also support students and academics with scholarships for the sake of knowledge. Therefore, you must have an advisor from this Council.

Postdoctoral stay for fees

The hiring will be for a period of three months through a contract for fees, which could only be renewed once, and will be subject to budget sufficiency.

The applicant must have an advisor from the Center.   

Documentation required:

  • Applicant Curriculum Synthesis. 
  • Project summary.  
  • Support letter from the advisor.
Sabbatical year or semester

For every six years of uninterrupted services, researchers may enjoy a semester or a sabbatical year in order to dedicate themselves to studies and research tasks that allow their academic improvement.

Faculty interested in leaving sabbatical must communicate their intention to the Academic Secretary during the first two months of the year, so that they can be considered when preparing the Annual Academic Improvement Program.

Applications are analyzed in plenary session of the Internal Council and must be processed at least three months before the date of leaving. 

Documentation required:

  • Letter from the applicant addressed to the dean, indicating dates and place where the sabbatical stay will take place.  
  • Letter from the applicant where a technical manager is appointed, where appropriate, for ongoing CONACyT projects.
  • Invitation or acceptance letter from the receiving institution. 
  • Activities program and schedule. 
  • Resume.  
  • DGP sabbatical year certification opinion (no more than six months old). 

Attention:

  • In case of being responsible for DGAPA or CONACyT projects, the corresponding authorities must be notified about the sabbatical year. The members of the National System of Researchers must inform the SNI.
Sabbatical year or semester (DGAPA scholarship)

Faculty interested in leaving sabbatical must communicate their intention to the Academic Secretary during the first two months of the year, so that they can be considered when preparing the Annual Academic Improvement Program.  

The DGAPA grants financial support to carry out a sabbatical stay in institutions of high academic prestige. Said support must be processed simultaneously at the Academic Secretary and with the Subcommittee for Academic Improvement of the CFATA per the corresponding call published in the UNAM Gazette, with a minimum of four months in advance, indicating if financial support will be received from the receiving institution, as well as whether the budget will be charged to the CFATA. 

Documentation required:

  • Letter from the applicant addressed to the dean specifying that the DGAPA scholarship will be applied for, with a brief description of the academic characteristics. 
  • Letter from the applicant where a technical manager is appointed, where appropriate, for ongoing CONACyT projects.  
  • Letter from the institution where the program will be developed, specifying the duration, start date, and end of the program. 
  • Program of activities and work plan to be developed with the authorization of the Head of the department.   
  • Resume of the candidate and the person with whom he will work. 
  • DGAPA forms (in copy).   
  • Updated proof of the employment situation issued by the DGP.   
  • Official certificates (language and other support.)
  • Copies of birth certificate and the last degree obtained.  

Attention:

In case of being responsible for DGAPA or CONACyT projects, the corresponding authorities must be notified about the sabbatical year. The members of the National System of Researchers must inform the SNI.

Temporary or permanent change of assignment

Definitive assignment changes are processed by the department to which the applicant academic is assigned.

In case of renewal, it must be processed at least two months in advance of its expiration.

Documentation required:

  • Opinion of the receiving Judging Commission (if the change is final) 
  • Opinion of the Internal Council of the affiliation unit
  • Directors' opinion 
  • Letter from the applicant addressed to the director, requesting the change.
  • Program of activities and report (endorsed, in the case of academic technicians)
  • Resume  
  • Approval of the corresponding Technical Council, when coming from outside the subsystem 
  • Copy of the appointment, when coming from another subsystem. 

Notes

The applicant must give a seminar on their activities to be evaluated one month before their evaluation.

Less-than-three-days License

Faculty interested in requesting a short trip license must submit to the Academic Secretary, 3 business days prior to the license, the following

Beyond-22 days License

Academics interested in carrying out a research stay must communicate their intention to the Academic Secretary during the first two months of the year, so that they are considered when preparing the Annual Academic Improvement Program.

Commissions are awarded in order for the applicant to carry out research or study stays in national or foreign institutions, provided that they contribute to the development of research or teaching, and are of interest to the institution. Applications must have the opinion of the Internal Council. 

Applications must be processed two months in advance of their date of interest and be accompanied by the following 

Documentation required:

  • Letter from the applicant addressed to the director, briefly describing the academic interaction, the activities to be carried out, the contributions or benefits of their stay, as well as the dates and place to visit, with the approval of the Head of Department. Request form beyond 22 days
  • Program of future activities (endorsed by the Head of Department, in the case of academic technicians).
  • Invitation letter from the receiving institution.
  • Letter of support from the Director.
  • Consent forms to be insured and designation of beneficiaries, and individual insurance certificate.
Competition for entry

Aimed at: researchers and non-definitive academic technicians.

In accordance with the interests of the CFATA and taking into account the opinion issued by the Internal Council, the Directorate will send the request for a position to open for competition to the CTIC.

Once the call has been published, the applications and documentation of the applicants to occupy the position will be received within 15 business days from the date of publication. The day of publication in the Gaceta UNAM will be counted as the first business day.

The names of the candidates and their documents are confidential and will be turned over directly to the Judging Commission by the Academic Secretary.

The applications will be analyzed by the Judging Commission of the CFATA, which will determine the winner of the position. 

The cases are then submitted to the CTIC for ratification.

Documentation required:

  • Call published in Gaceta UNAM
  • Letter from the applicant addressed to the director (request letter addressed to the director, indicating the category and level of the position for which he is applying, number of the position, number of the Gaceta UNAM, the date on which the call was published, and a brief description of the reasons for which they want to enter the contest.)
  • Updated resume (including bibliographic citations, supporting documents, and copies of: titles, published articles, thesis direction, papers presented at congresses, acknowledgments, letters of support and courses taken)
  • Exam or project of the applicant (prepared and evaluated by the person who applied it, or project as indicated in the call, for academic technicians.) In addition, for researcher positions, the project must be submitted in writing as requested in the call published.
  • Title of the last degree obtained
